On and off the Needles Friday

Have you ever had days when you just can't get out of your own way!!!  Enough whining.   I finished my first project of Loopy Academy Semester 2.  This will be my entry for the striping project.  The pattern is Asaka and the yarn is Cascade 220 sport in navy and white for Little Mr. C.
In a previous post I mentioned that I knit samples for my LYS.  I use the recommended needle size and knit various stitch patterns.  The red yarn is Panda Silk from Crystal Palace Yarns in a bamboo, superwash merino wool and silk blend.  This sample is being worked on size 2 needles.

The grey sampler is Linea Pura from Lana Grossa.  It is a ribbon type cotton silk blend.  It needs a little blocking.

Finish A Long Quarter 2

Setting realistic quilting and knitting goals has not always been easy for me.  I tend to bite off more than I  can chew.  I finished 2 out of 4 projects last quarter but that won't stop me from adding a few more this time.
These are the projects I would like to finish.
Fantastic Flowers:  a BOM from our machine embroidery club.

This is the yarn for Loopy Academy Semester 2.  The purple in the back row, left side is for a felting project, the white and 2 navy skeins are for a striped project--probably a summer sweater for little Mr. C. and the 2 blue skeins on the bottom row are for a slipped stitch cowl.  All projects subject to change but are due May 31.  Hmmm.  I think I should start one of these today!!!

This is a little scrappy challenge from Pat Sloan.  The top is done but needs quilting, binding and a label.

And last but not least is the project from last quarter.  I need to finish the quilting, binding and label.

I think there is hope.

(Knitting) Needle Hog

I have been posting my Yarnathon progress.  And one of the booster badges this quarter is  about the quantity of our needles.  I have never done an official inventory of what I have and thought this would be a perfect opportunity to see that I am in total control of what I own.  Not as in control as I thought.  Every single set is tallied.

I don't use straight needles as much as I used to.  I use circulars for everything including my flat pieces.  They are easier and less cumbersome.  How I ended up with 7 sets of #2 Double pointed needles is beyond me!!!  The spreadsheet with my information doesn't include the two sets of interchangeable needles.  I have a set of Addi-Turbo with sizes, 6,8 and 9 tips and two sets of #7 tips with 6 different cords.  That means 12 possible combinations of size 7 needles.  I also have a bamboo interchangeable set with sizes 5-10 and 4 cords.  I know my yarn stash is out of control but had no idea about my needle problem!!

On the needles Friday

It was a slow knitting week for my projects.  I have been knitting stitch samples for my LYS and have neglected my stuff.  Last night we met for our monthly get together for Great American Aran Afghan.
I am going to visit Judy's place and see what everyone else is working on.

Is it spaghetti or.............

Have you heard about eatsleepknit.com. Hands down one of my favorite yarn shops that I have only visited on line.  This is my second year participating in the Yarnathon. As a Cowlette I feel duty bound to help my team attain yarny perfection.  I am off to a slow start with finishes.  There are a few booster badges that I didn't think I would be able to do.  The Tangled badge was one of them.  I don't often end up with a tangled mess of yarn.  My yarn swift gets put to good use.  Last night I was lazy.  I was going to wind a ball of yarn in my lap.  Looks like spaghetti doesn't it!!!

After 2 1/2 hours I finally had a respectable ball of yarn.

I would like to think that I will never be that smug again!
