Yarn report Week 47

Not much knitting or anything else other cooking this week.  But that will change next week.  I spent a lovely morning with my coffee and the Eat Sleep Knit site.  I couldn't resist the black Friday sale.  But on those purchases next week.  For this week--nothing in and nothing out.

Current inventory:  329

Used this week:  0

What's on My Needles

Happy Thanksgiving.

There was very little knitting and quilting this week.  I did manage to cast on a cowl.
Hopefully I will be able to sit and knit a little this evening.   I am going to visit Judy's blog to see what others are working on.  I usually gets lots of inspiration.

Yarn Report Week 46

I have had no change in my numbers--but not for lack of trying!!!  Nothing in this week and nothing out although I did swatch some Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport.  I really, really want to make a sweater for me that will fit well.  I will tell you more about my plan in a few weeks.

I have spent a lot of time browsing my favorite online yarn shops.  There are so many yarns I want to try. I have never liked making a swatch, even though I know how important it can be.  But now I am finding it fun.  I try out the yarn before I invest a lot of money to see how I like it.

I am off to visit Judy's Yarn Report.   After I see her purchases I usually go "shopping"

Yarn Report Week 45

This has been the first week in a long, long time that I didn't purchase yarn--not that I wasn't tempted!!!

In this week:  0
Out this week:  1  (it's a start)
In YTD:  330
Out YTD: 1

I'm on a roll.

On the Needles

It has been a slow knitting week.  The brown hat I showed last week is finished and packed away for the Soup Kitchen Christmas Lunch.

I will be giving the cowl to my daughter next week.

At the moment I have been spending more time on applique.  But I will be casting on a sport weight yarn for a swatch.  I am determined to make a sweater that fits.

This is the Gap-tastic Cowl.  The yarn is Malabrigo Mecha Candombe.  The yarn was wonderful to work with.  It has a very rich luxurious feel.  I would love to use it again.

Yarn Report

I need an intervention!!!  During our weekly drop in knitting on Tuesday, I found some lovely fingering weight yarn I couldn't resist.
The bottom skein which looks grey but is more forest and pine green will be for a cowl for one on my DD's  The pink and grey skein was too pretty to pass up.  I don't know what it will be but it is a lovely addition to my stash.

I am going to start fresh with my numbers--this will be like a week 1.

Number of skeins, balls, hanks on hand--328
Used this week:  0 (leftovers were used to make a Christmas stocking)
Added this week:  2
Total # to be used:  330

ON (and off) the Needes Friday

I love the feeling of finishing things!  One of my first knitting projects was Christmas stockings.  That was about 35 years ago.  About 10 years ago I thought I would replace them with something a little more elegant.  No one wanted anything to do with the new ones.  And since everyone has moved away, I get requests to make Christmas stockings for their homes.  Our youngest was married in September.  I made Christmas stockings for them including their dog two years ago.  This year Mrs. M asked me to make one for her MIL.
On my needles is a stocking cap in a lovely Chocolate brown.  Several times a month, we gather at our LYS for charity knitting.  I will be taking the finished projects to the Soup Kitchen in a few weeks.

Yarn Report

As I mentioned in an earlier post life has been a little crazy for me.  I have been trying to learn the features of my new laptop and haven't quite figured out how to crop my photos.  Hopefully I will get to it this weekend.

While we were visiting Cape Cod this week, I came across two lovely yarn shops--one in Falmouth and one in Harwich.  It would have so rude not to purchase a little something.  So I came home with 7 additional skeins of yarn for 4 new projects.  Waiting for me when we got back home was a Box of Fun from the Loopy Ewe with 4 more skeins.
As I was looking for a place to put it, I was amazed how little space I had left.   I counted every skein, ball, hank of yarn.  Including this new stash I have 324 skeins of yarn!!!  I am embarrassed.    Each one was purchased for a specific
project.  I need to begin my New Year resolutions for 2014 NOW!!!
