Last year I participated in the Grow Your Blog party for the first time. Not only did many visitors commented on my blog and several started following my posts but I had the opportunity to "find" many new friends and visit their blogs. I have learned so much about blogging from these many sites. And I am looking forward to visiting many more this year.
Needle turn applique is my obsession. This is just one example of my many works in progress. It is called The Joy of Life designed by Rosemary Quinlan. This is the second of 9 blocks.
But I rediscovered my passion for knitting and started participating in KAL and challenges. I spend a lot of time browsing Ravelry. My Ravelry name is Mumsiemagoo.
Last night I cast on the first block in the Great American Aran Afghan that a group of us at our LYS are working on. Not much progress to report. But my latest completed project is LWD Slip Stitch Cable Hat. I used a skein of Madelinetosh Pashmina worsted yarn in Nassau Blue.
Thank you for stopping by. I look forward to "meeting" many new friends.

Yarn Report Week 4 2015
I have definitely had a change in my numbers--lots of yarn but not much progress.
Yarn In this week: 2022 yards 21 skeins of Frog Tree Pediboo Worsted for the Great American Aran Afghan. We are working on this as a BOM at my LYS
Yarn out this week: 190 yards
Yarn in YTD: 3317 yards
Yarn out YTD: 810 yards
Next week won't be much of an improvement, Eat Sleep Knit had a sale for 10K members and I couldn't resist.

Loopy Academy Semester 1 and Off the Needles
I was a little late "matriculating" for Loopy Academy. I had hoped to finish on time--December 31 but I needed a little extension. My 3 projects for Semester 1 are done! And I am very pleased with my finishes.
Freshman Year, First Semester Assignments (each project needs to use at least 175 yards):
- Cowl in a multi-colored Fingering weight .: I used Blue Moon Fiber Art Socks that Rock lightweight in Tea and Alchemy. The pattern is Irish Mesh Cowl.
- Hat from a designer new to you, in a Sport or DK weight. Shibui Baby Alpaca in Bordeaux and the pattern is Whitman.
- Mittens in a solid or semi-solid colorway in a Worsted weight. I used Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted in Cermak. The pattern is Irish Hiking Mittens. I have never made mittens but this won't be the last time.
2015 Finish A Long First Quarter
I will do just about anything to finish some projects. This Finish A Long fits in nicely with my "road map" for the year. My goals for the first quarter--January-March are:
Pot o' Gold Socks. I am not a sock knitter. I would like to be one. My LYS offered a wonderful class. The socks are toe up with an after-thought heel. I am determined to finish these socks.
- Little Mr. C's Hoot quilt: only 4 of the 9 machine embroidered block are done. I had hoped to give it to him at Christmas but we see how far I got on that project!
-
Complete Petal Swap Guild challenge. The 12 Dresden plate blocks need to be assembled and quilted. I have until May 2015 to finish but I decided to be ahead of the game.

Stash Report Week 1
Although I hope to use lots of stash fabric this year, I know I will have to add just a little to keep it fresh! Today I purchased 12 yards. I thought a few fat quarters would be all I needed. Four yards is for a backing and the remaining eight yards will be used in a Yellow Brick Road. So my first report for the New Year is:
Yards in this week: 12
Yards out this week: 0
In YTD: 12 yards
Out YTD: 0
Yards in this week: 12
Yards out this week: 0
In YTD: 12 yards
Out YTD: 0

Yarn Report Week 1
My first stash report of the year! I was going to limit my knitting challenges and concentrate on knitting sweaters for me. But at the last minute--December 14--I decided to participate in Loopy Academy. I knew there was no way I would finish by Dec. 31 but I decided to start anyway and catch up in January. And then Eat Sleep Knit posted this year's Yarnathon. I was going to resist but I am weak. I probably will not do all 12 KAL. But this will be a good reporting week. No yarn in and nothing out until I finish Loopy Academy Semester 1.
Yarn in this week: 0 yards (0 skeins)
Yarn out this week: 0 yards (0 skeins)
