PhD January Update

For the past several years I have signed up to participate in Quilting Gail's PhD (Projects Half Done) challenge.  But I did not accomplish much.  2021 is off to a good start, I am happy to say that I finished two quilts this month.

Table Scraps Challenge January

 A new adventure for this year was to join The Joyful Quilter in her Table Scraps Challenge.  Although I live in an in-law apartment, I don't have too many flat surfaces of table runners.  For January, I went small, very small--a mug rug.  I love crazy quilts and using my embroidery machine for quilting.  

One Monthly Goal January

 Trying to stay on track for the New Year and actively participate in a Linky party or two.  My first for the year is Elm's Street Quilts One Monthly Goal.  Home Tweet Home has been in the UFO pile for a few years.  It is done.

It doesn't look as though I did much this week when you look at the numbers.  But I don't do any "counting" until the project is finished.

I ordered yarn to complete a shell stitch baby blanket and more Dreambaby DK to make another baby blanket.

The other six skeins I purchased were for swatching for potential sweaters I want to knit.  They were yarns I hadn't used before and wanted to see if I liked them.

I was able to finish a few things on my To Do list last week and added a few other things.    Last weeks list was:

Week 1 Stash Report and Plan

 

On the Needles Friday

 This week has flown by.  I am really not sure where the days went.  It isn't like we are going anywhere.  But I did get to spend some quality time with my sewing machine and yarn.  My first yarny finish for the year is a hat for Meg.

And I was able to cast on my Q1 project for ESK's Yarnathon.

Rhythm Hat

This is my first attempt with mosaic knitting.  I hope to try a more involved project when this is finished.  

BOM's Away Monday

 I have resolved this year to concentrate on BOM's that have been started.  Starting off this year is Joy of Life.  It was a 9 month BOM that I started around 2010.  I am working on block 9 of 9.  I want to update my progress until it is DONE, including the quilting.

Weekly Stash Report and Plan

 During a Blog Hop last week,  I found some great ideas that completed the sentence:  My stitching resolution for 2021 is ________________.  At ChrisKnits  I saw her Stash Report that was simple but informative.  I am taking her lead and will keep a list of what comes in and what goes out. Starting next Sunday January 10, I will hopefully add a few numbers to show that I did something constructive this first week of the new year.

SEWING:  I have no idea how much fabric I have.  My goal for the year is to only purchase what I need to complete a project.  I have never tracked the amount I have spent.  I really, really didn't want to know!
